Personal project
A story for Raine
An illustrated bedtime story created to ease separation anxiety and nurture connection through gentle storytelling and thoughtful design.
Studio Mission: To support my 3-year-old daughter, Raine, through feelings of separation at bedtime by designing a storybook that reminds her my love is always with her, even when I’m not in the room.

The story behind the story
When Raine started struggling with separation anxiety, particularly around bedtime, I wanted to offer her more than just comfort — I wanted to give her something she could return to again and again.
So I created a children’s book that blends emotion, art, and storytelling:
“Love You to the Moon” is a lyrical, heart-led bedtime story designed to soothe little ones and help them feel secure, loved, and seen — even from a distance.
The story follows a little girl (inspired by Raine) who learns that even when Mummy isn’t in the room, her love is never far away. Like the moon in the sky, it’s always glowing, always watching, always near.
Bringing it to life
Every page was crafted to feel calming, cosy, and magical, with Raine at the centre, illustrated in her favourite pink outfit, cuddling her soft grey bunny under a starry sky.
Design elements included:
-
-
- Soft, calming colour palette: Dusky pinks, twilight blue, silver-grey, and a touch of maroon
- Easy to read and hand-drawn illustrations featuring Raine’s favourite pink outfit and soft grey bunny
- Handwritten-style typography to echo a bedtime whisper
- Glow effects and textured night skies to create a dreamy, safe world
- Dual-format layout: Designed for both screen and print, great for storytime or framing in a nursery

Why does this project matter?
This wasn’t just a children’s book; it was a design-led emotional support tool. At its heart, this project is about using creativity and visual storytelling to build trust and emotional resilience, one bedtime at a time.
It reminded me why I love what I do: blending meaningful design with real-life purpose. Whether it’s for a children’s charity, a parent-led business, or a personal keepsake, stories like this show how powerful design can be when it comes from the heart.
